KNYSNA NEWS - Voota FC delivered a determined performance to grind out a narrow 1-0 victory over Black Cats FC in a tightly contested Safa Eden Regional League fixture last weekend.
The match, played at Lawaaikamp Stadium in George, saw Voota FC start on the front foot, moving the ball swiftly through midfield and applying early pressure on the Black Cats defence.
The breakthrough came when Anele Niyake made a superb run down the left flank before calmly finding the back of the net to hand Voota FC a 1-0 lead.
Black Cats attempted to respond, with Mandla Mthembu testing goalkeeper Wongalethu Siziba from outside the box. However, the Voota shotstopper produced a fine save to deny the hosts an equaliser.
The second half proved more tactical, with both sides probing patiently for openings. Voota FC were dealt a setback when Niyake was shown a red card following a challenge, leaving the visitors to finish the match with 10 men.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Knysna side showed resilience at the back and held firm under pressure to secure maximum points.
The victory sees Voota FC remain firmly in the title race, sitting in the top four on 30 points after 17 matches.
