BITOU NEWS - One of Bitou’s new political parties, Ikhwezi Political Movement (IPM), has called for an early recess for the Bitou council following what they have described as “chaos caused by the greedy three”.
IPM president Noksie Kolwapi said the uncertainty in council after the vote of no confidence in former mayor Peter Lobese and the subsequent shifts in power were “unfortunate”.
“It is unfortunate that all of these political parties (referring to the ANC, AUF and DA) were more concerned about power, rather than ensuring stability and service delivery. Hence we can call them the ‘greedy three’,” Kolwapi said.
This is why the IPM called for an early recess, he said. “There is no solution or stability that will return in Plett while the ‘greedy three’ are still in power.”
Kolwapi said the recess will ensure that there is no theft of municipal funds for campaigning and no “backroom unqualified" appointments.
It would also bring stability to protect the town’s tourism-based economy and end petty politics.
