MOTORING NEWS - Even in the quiet month of December 2017, Renault sold 664 units of the affordable Kwid.
Three versions have been available up to now, but an automatic has been lacking.
From today, 8 March, this is rectified with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) on the Kwid Dynamic.
Renault does away with a conventional gearshift - instead, a dial on the dashboard offers three modes: reverse, neutral and drive.
The gearbox has 5 forward speeds. The space where the gear shift used to be, is a handy extra storage space.
The Renault Kwid was designed to turn heads. SUV-inspired looks, a chiselled muscular front mated with a bold structured grille, and a high ground clearance all combine to give the Kwid it's striking stance.

A comfortable, safe ride is ensured by a calibrated suspension system for optimal handling and braking. It offers confidence in all weather conditions and on all road surfaces thanks to the front disc brakes and ultra-high ground clearance.
The forward-positioned front windscreen and large windows give good visibility. The Pro-Sense front seat belt and driver-side airbag means safe and sound features in the Kwid.
The Kwid's bold exterior styling carries through to the contemporary-styled and practical interior. The spacious cabin offers adaptable seats, intuitively placed central controls, electric power steering and power assisted front windows.
Clever design means convenient stowaway nooks and a class-leading 300-litre boot space that can be expanded to 1 115 litres for weekend getaways.
The official fuel consumption figure is given at 4,7 litres per 100km under test conditions.
The compact, lightweight 1,0-litre, 3-cylinder Smart Control efficiency (SCe) engine is engineered to maintain accurate air-to-fuel ratio.
