SEDGEFIELD NEWS - A two-year-old toddler from Smutsville in Sedgefield, was stabbed to death on the night of Tuesday 27 August.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies said in a statement that preliminary information available at that stage suggested that the police were summoned to a house in Smutsville at about 12:00.
"Upon arrival, they found the body of the toddler with multiple stab wounds. The victim was declared deceased by paramedics on-scene," said the statement.
"A search for a man, suspected to be involved with the killing, ensued with assistance from the community.
"The man was later accompanied to the satellite police station by a member of the public, where he was arrested.
"The motive for this killing is unknown and forms part of the ongoing police probe."
The suspect (21) remains in police custody. He will appear in court once charged.
