KNYSNA NEWS - Trinity Primary School pupils responded to a request by the Featherbed Nature Reserve, situated on the Western Head in Knysna, to write essays on the history of the reserve.
The pupil who wrote the winning entry would receive R1 000 and a free tour of the reserve along wiopportunityth their classmates and a teacher.
The runner-up would receive R800.
Twelve pupils, from Grades 4-6, took this opportunity to heart, and started writing.
A few weeks later we received a call from Gary Lavery, the operations manager at Featherbed Nature Reserve, inviting all 12 pupils and a teacher for an amazing treat at a cafe.
Everyone received a scrumptious hamburger and a cooldrink. Gary also presented the winner and the runner-up with their cash rewards.
The winner was Isenathi Jacobs, in Grade 5, and the runner-up was Jesse Nambuya, in Grade 4.
Isenathi's whole class will go on a tour of the reserve after the June holidays.
