KNYSNA NEWS - Oakhill Preparatory School recently hosted Woodridge Preparatory School from the Eastern Cape for their annual winter sports derby, showcasing competitive yet sportsmanlike hockey, netball and rugby action.
The day began at the Oakhill sports grounds with a hockey skills clinic for Grade One and Two pupils, which later evolved into an internal match involving the Grade Three girls that drew enthusiastic support from parents and spectators.
With Woodridge's arrival in Knysna, the derby fixtures delivered exciting encounters across several age groups.
Oakhill's U13A netball team continued its impressive unbeaten run with another strong performance, while the U13B side showed resilience and determination throughout their match.
The hockey fixtures were closely contested, with both the U13A boys' and girls' teams battling to hard-fought draws.
Oakhill Prep's head of sport, Kim Ransom, thanked Woodridge for making the long journey to Knysna.
"This annual fixture remains an important event on the sporting calendar for both schools. We always enjoy the opportunity to test ourselves against strong opposition and, once again, the derby produced many memorable moments, valuable lessons and enjoyable experiences for all the players involved," she said.
