KNYSNA NEWS - A young woman from Rheenendal, Mareldea Tieties, is one of two residents in the Garden Route who have been awarded community scholarships by the François Ferreira Academy and Eden FM.
The announcement and official handover on Friday 13 February was aired live from the Eden FM studio during the weekly radio programme Culinary Skills, hosted by Jan Greyling.
The other recipient was Shamida Dirks from Pacaltsdorp, George.
Each winner receives a scholarship covering one year of fully paid tuition fees for a course of their choice at the François Ferreira Academy in George.
The two winners were selected from a larger group of applicants after interviews had been conducted with all candidates. Both are passionate about the culinary industry and look forward to starting their studies with the next student intake.
The community scholarship is a joint initiative between Eden FM and the François Ferreira Academy, aimed at making professional qualifications and skills training more accessible to young people in the Garden Route and Little Karoo.
