KNYSNA NEWS - Smoke continues to billow over the N2 highway between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay after a fire broke out at the green waste station in Kwanokuthula. The blaze, which started on Saturday night, February 15, has caused a significant reduction in visibility, creating dangerous driving conditions for motorists traveling along the busy route.

Emergency services from the Bitou municipality responded promptly to the fire, arriving at the scene shortly before 9 pm. Since then, fire crews have been working tirelessly to bring the flames under control and prevent further spread. 

Despite their efforts, smoke continues to linger, causing hazardous conditions for drivers.

Local residents and travelers are urged to exercise caution when traveling along the N2, as low visibility could lead to accidents if motorists are not careful.

As of early today, emergency teams remain on-site, monitoring the situation and continuing firefighting efforts. 

Motorists are advised to stay updated on the situation and to follow any traffic diversions or advisories issued by local authorities.
