KNYSNA NEWS - Questions have been raised about the Knysna Municipality's response to allegations relating to its supply chain management manager, Tshegane (Ronny) Mampana, following claims made by a community leader from Karatara.
Hendrias Morris, a community leader, property developer and managing director of a co-operative, said he initiated his own inquiry after hearing reports concerning alleged irregularities linked to Mampana's appointment.
According to Morris, he raised his concerns with Municipal Manager Lulamile Mapholoba in December 2025. He said he received a response on Monday 12 January, indicating that Mapholoba had only recently returned to work and that the matter was receiving urgent attention.
Morris has called for an investigation into Mampana, alleging that he may have failed to disclose previous alleged misconduct matters on the application form and curriculum vitae submitted to Knysna Municipality in 2023 when applying for the position of supply chain management manager.
Alleged suspension
The Knysna Plett Herald approached Mampana for comment on the allegations via his WhatsApp number and his municipal email address. At the time of publication, no response had been received.
The newspaper was informed by two independent sources, including a sitting councillor, that Mampana was allegedly issued with a letter of suspension on Monday 12 January. The municipality has been approached for comment regarding this claim.
In an earlier response, the municipality's communications department stated:
"Please note that the municipality is not at liberty to discuss or comment on human resource-related matters, including allegations, investigations, or any potential disciplinary processes, through or with the media.
Such matters are managed in line with applicable legislation, internal policies, and established governance processes, which require confidentiality and due process."
