KNYSNA NEWS - In celebration of Mandela Day, the Knysna Initiative for Learning and Teaching (KILT) is launching its annual food drive with the goal of collecting 6 700 non-perishable items to support local soup kitchens.
Community members are encouraged to drop off donations outside Woolworths at Knysna Mall between 09:00 and 16:00 on 18 July.
The food will be sorted and delivered to soup kitchens in Nekkies, Hornlee, Concordia and central Knysna that provide warm meals to vulnerable families throughout the year.
Requested items include samp and beans, lentils, barley, soup mixes, rice, pap and tinned foods. "Every item adds up to a meal. Every meal adds up to hope," says KILT.
