KNYSNA NEWS - Determined to change the narrative of how the homeless are perceived in the Greater Knysna area, Councillor Waleed Grootboom joined forces with the homeless and organised a clean-up operation that is currently underway.
He said the homeless are on a quest to take ownership of their town and contribute towards keeping it clean. They recently cleaned the Main Road and will tackle the Knysna taxi rank next.
"I understand that Knysna residents believe that the homeless are responsible for the pollution in town. I shared this with them and proposed that we start a project that shows that they care about the town, " he said.
"This cause is close to my heart. I ask that we be patient with the homeless and be kind."
