KNYSNA NEWS - Oakhill School has announced the cancellation of the 2026 Oakhill Waterfront Chukka Festivals scheduled for February. 

The water polo festivals are an annual occurrence that draws school teams from all overSouth Africa.

The announcement, made together with the school's partners and sponsors, came amid water quality concerns. According to Oakhill’s Facebook page, the decision follows independent laboratory test results confirming that the Knysna Waterfront marina water is currently not safe for recreational use. 

This is further compounded by the severe water crisis and ongoing drought affecting the region.

Oakhill acknowledged the deep disappointment this news brings to participating schools, players, families, and the wider Knysna community and business sector. 

The festival has long been a highlight on the local sporting and social calendar, contributing significantly to community spirit and economic activity.
