Liza Wigley instructed these learners about general water safety; how to save a friend's life without endangering oneself; rip currents: what these are, how to spot them and how to survive one; and the all important emergency number: 10177.
Learners were also taught that they need to have a PLAN when they go to the beach. Pack (towel, something warm, food and water, something to swim in); Look (look out for each other, look out for rocks, look for the bottom don't swim in murky water); Ask (ask an adult before swimming); Never (swim alone, if hungry or thirsty, or if adults have had too much to drink, never turn back on the sea).
