KNYSNA NEWSFLASH & VIDEO - A dramatic phenomenon is playing itself out in front of the Knysna-Plett Herald office this afternoon.
Journalists Stefan Goosen and Nwabisa Pondoyi noticed a few bees buzzing into their second story office, which prompted Goosen to look outside.
To his shock and disbelief, thousands of bees were swarming outside the building in Spring Street, centred around one tiny lemon tree.
Upon closer inspection it was clear that the bees were moving into the tree, which prompted a panicked call to local bee expert Riaan Bosch.
Bosch, who is of the organisation Bees for Nature, says it is “swarming” time for bees, which means they will be looking for new homes.
He is, at the time of this article going online, evaluating ways to remove and relocate these bees in the safest way.
This is the tree the swarm of bees has chosen to move into – right in front of the Knysna-Plett Herald offices.
