KNYSNA NEWS - Everything was covered in colour at the Totties Country Market family-friendly colour run in Rheenendal on Sunday 20 April - including the car guards!
People came in their numbers to support the event, a fundraiser for the Knysna Animal Welfare Society (Kaws) that brought locals and visitors together for a fun-filled Easter celebration.
Fun and friendliness
Hosted by Totties Country Market, the event saw runners, walkers and furry friends come together for this high-energy event.
Kaws manager Belinda Speed said the participants were doused in eco-friendly coloured powder at various stations along the 2.5km route. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning, knowing you were supporting the local animal shelter.
"More than just a run, this event brought awareness to Kaws' role within the community, and its need for donations and funds to continue operating. The event raised about R10 000, which will go directly towards assisting animals in need in the greater Knysna area."
She said a colour run is a beautiful way to bring the community together for fun, fitness, and a fantastic cause.
Local furry friends also supported the run. After all, it was held for their benefit! Photos: Supplied/ Ross Goosen
Colourful ending
By the time they reached the finish line, everyone was covered in an array of blue, purple, green and yellow. "It's safe to say the Kaws Easter Colour Run left a mark both on those who participated and the animals who'll benefit from the generosity of the community," Speed said.
"Thank you to everyone who participated on the day, as well as to Totties Country Market for hosting the event. Kaws will be having another colour run later in the year, so watch this space!"
