KNYSNA NEWS - A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after a stabbing incident at a tavern at Kaalkol in Nekkies this past weekend resulted in the death of a teenager and injuries to another youngster involved in the altercation.
Knysna police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies said it is alleged the suspect and the victims had an argument at a tavern when he stabbed a 22-year-old victim with a knife at about 01:00 on Sunday 25 August.
According to Spies, the 22-year-old sustained injuries to his body and fled from the scene with his 19-year-old friend, Sinethemba Vara, but the suspect followed them.
On his way back to the scene, said Spies, the 22-year-old discovered the body of Vara, with stab wounds to the chest and back. He was declared deceased upon arrival at the Knysna Provincial Hospital.
The 32-year-old suspect was later arrested and appeared in court on Tuesday 27 August on charges of murder and attempted murder. The matter was postponed.
