KNYSNA NEWS - According to Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) communications officer, Herman Pieters, the Buffelsnek fire is currently under control and mopping-up operations are underway.
Pieters also confirmed that there has been no loss of human life or infrastructure.
Pieters further stated that according to the GRDM's Emergency Call Centre, the backburns that were set up last night and in the early hours of this morning were successful.
"Weather conditions at the moment are favourable for the scene to be contained but teams will continue to monitor the area as the temperature rises. A Recce flight will be conducted this morning to confirm that all the firelines are contained," Pieters said.
