KNYSNA NEWS - The young learners at Thembelitsha Primary School were last week treated to a special visit from the Western Cape Provincial Disaster Management team, who taught the learners about the value of disaster preparedness.
The visit from the Western Cape Provincial Disaster Management team who joined forces with the Garden Route District Municipality and Knysna Municipality, came on Friday 9 February.
Together, they initiated a campaign to enhance community resilience by sharing knowledge and tools with schools, enabling them to effectively respond to hazards such as floods, fires, and load shedding, according to a Knysna Municipality statement.
Friday marked a significant step in this endeavour as the teams visited Thembelitsha Primary School.
"Through creative and engaging play, learners were educated with laughter, cheers, and smiles," the statement said.
Thembelitsha Primary learners enjoy the educational showcase.
"Recognising the pivotal role of education in disaster preparedness, the initiative identified 10 schools for a comprehensive Disaster Awareness Campaign from 5 February to 9 February."
