KNYSNA NEWS - The Skills Summit engagement session took place on Thursday 17 August, serving as a crucial follow-up to the successful Garden Route Skills Mecca held on 13 July.

Held at the Garden Route National Park's Knysna offices, the engagement session brought together key stakeholders of the Skills Summit for a dynamic meeting of the minds. 

The engagement session, headed by the Greater Knysna Business Chamber, highlighted an initiative to establish the Knysna Skills and Education Centre, aimed at assisting businesses in acquiring the right skills for the future. 

This demand-driven strategy is led by industry and business leaders who recognize the importance of preparing the youth for the workforce of tomorrow.

The goal of it all

The purpose of the engagement session was to build upon the momentum generated by the Skills Mecca and delve deeper into the pressing issues surrounding skills development in the Garden Route region. It provided an opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate, share insights, and develop actionable strategies to address the challenges and harness the opportunities in the local skills landscape.

The session commenced with emphasising the importance of collective efforts in driving meaningful change. Attendees included representatives from government agencies, educational institutions, industry leaders, community organisations, and non-profit entities, all of whom are deeply invested in the region's economic growth and human capital development.

The event followed a structured agenda, incorporating presentations and interactive discussions. Each segment focused on different aspects of skills development, including identifying key skill gaps, exploring innovative training models, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
