KNYSNA NEWS - On 18 September, Vermont Old Age Home residents enjoyed a unique outing sponsored by Sanparks and the Featherbed company.
The outing, which took place outside the care facility, was inspired by Mandela Day and aimed to provide the elderly with a unique experience. The outing was organised by Sanparks, who had previously visited the centre for Mandela Day.
Sister Petersen, staff members, and a board member accompanied the seniors, ensuring their well-being and enjoyment. The elderly residents were amazed by the experience, with some having never been on a boat before, and the skipper and his assistant receiving heartfelt gratitude from the elderly.
The outing serves as a reminder of the importance of providing meaningful experiences for the elderly, as engaging in new and fun activities can help alleviate feelings of isolation, enhance mental health, and foster a sense of belonging and happiness.
Vermont Old Age Home thanks Sanparks, the Featherbed company, Oom Harry's taxi services, and the staff members involved for their generosity and dedication in organising this remarkable outing, creating cherished memories for the seniors.
