SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The Working with Wood Show returns to the Garden Route this year for the second time since its debut in Knysna in 2014.
The Show is once again being hosted by the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) George Campus (old Saasveld) over the long weekend of 22 to 25 September.
Collaborators include the Association of Woodturners of South Africa (AWSA), the School of Natural Resource Management at NMU and the George Woodworking Association.
The Working with Wood Show is well known for its inclusion of displays, lectures, demonstrations, trade exhibitions, food stalls and ample entertainment for adult timber enthusiasts and their children, a fitting end to Arbour month.
A master luthier (guitar maker), Marc Maingard - the man who “makes trees sing again”, will, as during 2014, be joining the show.
Maingard guitars have become world renowned, attracting the attention of musical greats such as Earl Klugh and Steven Stills of Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Maingard will show some of his instruments in both raw and finished form. His guitars are so unique, using Brazilian Rosewood, that he requires permits to ship some of them abroad.
