SEDGEFIELD NEWS - It was confirmed today, 10 April, that Knysna police have opened an Inquest docket into the death of the 77-year-old missing person from Sedgefield last week.
At the time the police requested any assistance in finding the man from the community.
Southern Cape spokesperson for the police, Captain Malcolm Pojie, confirmed the body of 77-year-old Anthony Turnbill, who was reported as missing, was found at Begonia Street, Sedgefield on Sunday, 1 April at about 17:30.
“A member of the public found the body in the bushes with a gunshot wound to the head. The police also found a firearm that belonged to the deceased at the scene. No foul play is suspected.”
Captain Pojie said a post-mortem to determine the cause of death will be conducted later this week – and the investigation continues.
