KNYSNA NEWS - It is officially Women's Month! Over the next few weeks we would like to introduce to you a number of extraordinary municipal staff who is passionate about their work at the municipality and highly committed to creating an inclusive, innovative and inspired Greater Knysna!
Say hello to Megan L. Blatchford, Horticulturist: Parks and Recreation.
Megan found her inspiration for horticulture growing up surrounded by gardens and nature. She also loves art.
Megan strongly believes that all persons are change-makers. She believes that we all have the potential to make tangible changes in our communities.
While studying horticulture she became more aware of her surroundings, the environment and the impact our lifestyle choices can have on the environment. She is concerned that inaction and complacency now could be the curse to our future generations. "Future generations rely on us to make the right decisions now,” she says.
Her biggest wish is that women, in whatever career we are in, we would encourage and motivate each other and be our true selves.
In recent weeks, Megan and her team rejuvenated over 50 municipal garden beds and planted more than 130 trees under the department’s new greening initiative.
