A mass ride took place from Buffel’s Bay to the Knysna Angling Club on Sunday and, despite the drizzle, more than 350 bikers with their family and friends rode in from as far afield as Beaufort West.
"I had to go pick up even more toys on Monday from those bikers who couldn’t come through, and filled up a 1.3 mini-truck full of donations," gloats a very happy Rohan Smit from The Syndicate in Knysna. Some of the other clubs represented by men and women of the road, are The Renegades, The Fugitives, Casual Riders, Ulysses, Christian Motorcycle Association, Set Free Riders, Titty Twisters, Black Jacket and Legends from George, Mossel Bay, Prince Albert, Uniondale, Oudtshoorn and Beaufort West.
"The toys will be distributed to communities in need and children’s homes," explains Smit. The bikers crowded together after a wet ride, enjoying the comradery and cheerful atmosphere while they grazed on hotdogs, hamburgers, Attie’s chip spirals and steaming hot coffee.
There was only one minor incident when two bikes slid on a wet road near Sedgefield, but luckily no one was seriously injured.
