KNYSNA NEWS - A Knysna security guard who guards the Telkom premises is aggrieved by the way he has allegedly been treated by his former employer, iMvula Quality Protection, who managed Telkom's security for the past two years.
iMvula Quality Protection lost the contract to Bidvest Protea Coin who took over in July. Guards received new contracts with Bidvest and continued in their posts.
Siviwe Joko claims he has been unsuccessful in obtaining outstanding moneys from iMvula, including back-payment of his first month as guard (for which he alleges he hasn't been paid yet), leave payouts and his bonus (which they apparently should receive on their birthdays).
According to Joko, iMvula owes him just under R15 000. The company, however, maintains they have already resolved the matter with Joko.
Knysna/Plett Herald was in contact with other former iMvula guards who have also been moved from iMvula to Bidvest. One guard alleges iMvula owes him his leave payout of roughly R8 000, and another says he never received his bonus in 2021.
Eleven guards from two different provinces complained that their voices are not heard and that they don't receive feedback on their queries. They will not take the matter further and some said they are afraid of losing their jobs should they make trouble.
Joko and one of his colleagues, however, have lodged a complaint with the CCMA.
Head of Human Resources for iMvula, Hanita Singh, said the company takes pay queries very seriously and gives timeous feedback to all. "We did resolve this matter with Joko," said Singh.
The company has two systems in place to deal with pay queries. "We have a dedicated pay query administrator to handle all pay queries," she said.
"Officers are informed of the process and once the pay query is lodged, we endeavour to resolve the matter within 48 hours. It does take longer in certain circumstances. Furthermore, our officers are informed to submit queries, concerns, questions, and grievances to hr@imvula.net.
"Our HR administration department keeps track of this on a live spreadsheet and the matter is then escalated to the relevant people in charge and resolved."
