KNYSNA NEWS - With the eight-week school break this time of year, parents around South Africa will no doubt be wondering how to keep their kids entertained during the holidays.
For most parents, rules around screen time – whether tablets, cellphones or TVs – are relaxed once school is out, but this can often lead to arguments and grumpy kids. Camps and sporting clinics offer amazing inspiration and entertainment, and often a bonus educational element, of which attending kids are often blissfully unaware. A great new option is from Drone Racing Africa (DRA) who are offering introductory drone racing courses for schoolchildren ranging from the ages of eight to 18.
With the global drone industry growing at an exponential rate, getting children to grips with the basics of this innovative sport is an exciting prospect. Drone Racing Africa CEO Simon Robinson explains: “At DRA, we understand the importance of Stem (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) development for children, and the theoretical component will be designed with these needs in mind, so that children are educated on both flight theory relevance along with an important application to multiple uses within the wider drone industry, as well as the safety and the law that applies to flying drones.”
This new sport-meets-technology space is dynamic, adrenalin-fuelled and loads of fun. The holiday curriculum will span two days with various date options, and students will be incorporated into a curriculum designed for learning ability and attention range according to their age. The duration of each day will not be more than three-and-a-half hours.
