KNYSNA NEWS - Watch out! Theft out of motor vehicles is again on the increase. Please ensure you leave nothing in your vehicles and, where possible, park in a locked and alarmed garage.
PROPERTY-RELATED INCIDENTS:
TOWN AREA
SHOPLIFTING - MAIN STR (Thurs 8 February @ 13h44) - Allsound Guards apprehended 2 female suspects for shoplifting. A total of 6 items of clothing and shoes were recovered. Cases were opened and suspects were handed over to SAPS.
THEFT - MOUNT JOY (Fri 9 January @ 17h29) - Officer responded to alarm from electric fence. Caretaker reported that a laptop had been stolen from the property. He declined to open a case.
THEFT - CNR FICHAT STR (Fri 9 February @ 17h51) - Client reported that their gate was broken and metal components stolen. No case was opened.
THEFT - GRAHAM STR (Sat 10 February @ 20h16) - Following Allsound being called to remove unwanted persons from a property, it was noticed that they were in possession of possible stolen items.
Allsound traced the occupants of the vehicle to a house where they were renting and made contact with the owner.
It was confirmed that items including paintings, TV's, Clocks etc were missing from the property. SAPS searched the vehicle and all stolen items were recovered. 4 Suspects were arrested and charged.
ATTEMPTED THEFT OUT M.V. - QUEEN STR (Sun 11 February @ 05h25) - Allsound Officer spotted 2 suspects tampering with a vehicle.
They fled when they noticed him. Officer found that the rubber trim of the windows had been removed. No access was gained. Owner was informed, no case was opened.
COMMON ROBBERY - WATERFRONT DR (Sun 11 February @ 11h37) - Gentleman flagged down Allsound Officer to report that he was robbed the previous night by 3 men. He reported that he saw one of his attackers down the road.
Allsound Officer searched area but found no one matching the description.
SHOPLIFTING - MAIN STR (Tues 13 February @ 16h20) - Allsound Guards apprehended a suspect for shoplifting a Shirt to the value of R379. Suspect was handed over to SAPS and a case was opened.
SHOPLIFTING - MAIN STR (Wed 14 February @ 13h07) - Allsound Guards apprehended a suspect for shoplifting. When searching the man, he was also found to be in possession of drugs. Suspect was handed over to SAPS.
OLD PLACE / COSTA SARDA
BURGLARY - STINKHOUT CRES (Thurs 8 February @ 13h30) - Officer responded to alarm signal and found shed was broken into. Client confirmed that a petrol Stihl weedeater was stolen. Case was opened.
THEFT - STINKHOUT CRES (Sun 11 February @ 08h51) - Client reported that approximately 7 metres of their fence was cut and stolen during the night. No case was opened.
HUNTERS HOME / REXFORD / FISHER HAVEN
ATTEMPTED THEF - LINDSAY STR (Sun 11 February @ 13h09) - Client telephoned to report that a suspect jumped over their fence and tried to steal a power tool. Suspect fled empty handed when he saw the owner.
Description was provided and Officers searched the area, suspect was not found.
SALT RIVER / GREEN PASTURES / BLARICUM
THEFT OUT M.V. - SALT RIVER RD (Sat 10 February @ 15h46) - Resident phoned to request assistance after 2 unknown men reportedly stole a laptop from a vehicle and fled in a white bakkie. No registration available for follow up. SAPS were notified and a case was opened.
BURGLARY - OLD CAPE RD (Sat 10 February @ 22h09) - Resident reported noise on the property. When Officer checked premises, he noticed an open window next door with towel lying outside. On closer inspection, force marks were found on the door. Owner was notified and would check if anything was missing.
BRENTON ON SEA / LAKE BRENTON
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - BRENTON RD (Sun 11 February @ 22h09) - Client reported hearing noise from nearby property. Officer responded and confirmed that there were force marks on the door. No entry was gained to premises, nothing missing.
THEFT - LAKE BRENTON RD (Tues 13 February @ 22h07) - Gentleman telephoned to report that solar panels were stolen from Tower. Area was searched but no one was found. No case was opened at the time.
