KNYSNA NEWS - The Miss Spectacular beauty pageant held at the Hornlee Community Hall on Friday 30 June was a heartwarming event for all.
And no wonder - the pageant was about much more than beauty - it was a community effort to raise money for their friend and family member, Bianca Donson, who suffers from a rare kidney disease.
Bianca has to pay for her very expensive treatment while waiting for her medical aid, and travels to George twice a week for dialysis.
"Everyone who attended the pageant knows Bianca personally," said co-organiser Beverley Wabani.
"The guests all enjoyed the show and support the cause as Bianca's story holds a special place in our hearts. The support was overwhelming and exceeded our expectations. We want to thank each and everyone for contributing towards the success of the show."
The pageant, that raised R5 000, was organised by Beverly, Bianca's mom, Amanda Donson and friends, Charmone Bezuidenhout and Deroline Goldberg. It was kindly sponsored by Shanton Photography, Stephanie Raubenheimer, 34 Degrees South, Corrine Potgieter, Candace Creations and Pick n Pay.
Bianca thanked all the ladies who made the fun show happen. "I don't think people realise what a difference their donations make. It's truly heartwarming! I can proudly say the community of Hornlee never disappoints."
