Knysna Child Welfare has been selected as one of the eleven organisations to receive a much-appreciated donation from the Nedbank Business Banking group. Goods to the value of R16 000 were handed over on January 18 for use by Child Welfare's soup kitchen project.
The Knysna executive mayor, Georlene Wolmarans also attended the hand-over ceremony. Wolmarans said she was delighted to once again be part of the Nedbank Garden Route Fundraising Project. "I was asked to identify suitable charities that could benefit from this kind of project and, because of my passion for children, I have chosen Knysna Child Welfare and the local schools."
She further said, "The donation of goods for the crèche soup kitchens will go a long way in making the lives easier for those who cook meals for the kids, who ultimately are the beneficiaries of this project. I also look forward to the donation of water tanks to local schools, which will be happening shortly. Thank you to Nedbank Garden Route's fundraising coordinator Laura Theobold and all the staff of Nedbank across the Southern Cape. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed and I know you will be blessed in return for your generosity and enthusiasm."
Knysna Child Welfare also expressed its gratitude to the Nedbank Business Banking group for its sponsorship of kitchen items for their soup kitchens. These soup kitchens are situated in Brakenhill and Concordia and feed on average 350 people, mostly vulnerable children. "Our volunteers (managed by Child Welfare) feed these needy folks three times a week. It is an honour to be associated with a bank that cares so much for the community that they provide a service for," said Tracy Fisher of Knysna Child Welfare. This is Nedbank's fourth year of sponsorship to the Knysna Child Welfare and its affiliates.
Other organisations who received donation from Nedbank include The Knysna Educational Trust, The Plettaid Foundation for the Invicta House Women's Shelter Project and the Plettaid Foundation for the Bitou Community Home-Based Care Project.
The Garden Route Nedbank Business Banking group consists of six branches, in George, Knysna , Oudtshoorn, Plettenberg Bay, Mossel Bay and Riversdale.
The branches raised the funds collectively as a team, and distributed the funds between needy charity organisations in each of the towns the represent respectively. The staff and management of all the Nedbank Business Banking branches thank each and every donor who contributed to their efforts. "Thanks to the wonderful support received from our donors in the past four years, we have been very successful with fundraising for the Garden Route."
