GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in George arrested a 43-year-old woman on charges of fraud on Friday 26 April.
Lungiswa Tania Klaas appeared at the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on the same day and was granted bail of R5 000.
The matter is postponed to 6 June for a Regional Court date.
According to a spokesperson for the Hawks Lt. Col Siyabulela Vukubi it is reported that during the period 2021 and 2022 an intelligence driven operation was conducted at a roadworthy vehicle testing station in Plettenberg Bay.
"Investigation revealed that Klaas received money to facilitate and provide a roadworthy certificate for a vehicle that was never present and inspected by the roadworthy station," said Vukubi.
Klaas allegedly made use of a contact at a roadworthy station in Port Elizabeth to do the fraudulent roadworthy transaction.
