KNYSNA | BITOU NEWS - Despite a small rise last week, Bitou's new cases have dropped sharply this week along with the active cases. Both these metrics have continued their sharp declines in Knysna.
The Western Cape has seen a total of 2 269 878 vaccine registrations as at yesterday, Wednesday 13 October. This represents 45,71% of the eligible population. The Garden Route District however has had 205 120 vaccine registrations, 47,36% of its eligible population.
The percentage eligible population that is registered is dramatically higher in Knysna, where 29 323 people have registered, 57,91% of the eligible population. This percentage drops however in Bitou where 17 269 people have registered, 45,83% of the eligible population.
As at Wednesday 13 October, Knysna had recorded a total of 8 043 cases of Covid-19, of which 7 741 have recovered, 256 have died, and 46 are active cases.
This indicates a total of 14 new cases between 5 and 13 October, which amounts to a 61,11% decrease (-22) from the previous week.
The active cases dropped by 45,88% (-39) this week, its lowest number since 8 June. The recovery rate has increased to 96,25%, the highest number since 25 May, while the mortality rate stays on 3,2%.
In Bitou as at Wednesday, 4 338 Covid-19 cases had been recorded, with 4 151 having recovered, 132 having died, and 55 being active cases. This shows a total of 26 new cases recorded between 5 and 13 October, dropping by 46,94% (-23) from last week. This the lowest number of new cases in Bitou since 15 June.
The active cases dropped by 32,10% (-26) this week, also the lowest number since 15 June. Bitou's recovery rate is now 95,69%, its highest percentage since 4 May, and the mortality remains at 3%.
