BUSINESS NEWS - Greenwood Bay College is entering a new chapter aimed at strengthening its identity, expanding opportunities for learners and positioning the school for long-term growth, while preserving the caring community valued by families.

Effective 1 January 2027, the school will officially become Pinnacle College Greenwood Bay, joining the Pinnacle Colleges brand within the Advtech Schools Division. 

This decision follows a strategic review of the school's long-term direction and future opportunities, with the aim of ensuring it remains well positioned to serve families for years to come.

Greenwood Bay College has built a reputation for its caring environment, strong academic focus, committed teachers and close-knit community.

These qualities will remain central to the school.

"This new chapter is about building on everything that already makes Greenwood Bay College special," said the executive head, Albert Pienaar.

"Our relationships, traditions, values and culture of care will remain at the heart of our school. Becoming Pinnacle College Greenwood Bay allows us to build on these strengths while opening new opportunities for our students, staff and wider community."

Joining Pinnacle Colleges will give the school access to shared educational expertise, innovative teaching practices and the resources of one of South Africa's leading independent education groups.

Pinnacle Colleges focus on strong academic foundations, innovation, future-focused learning and holistic learner development, equipping learners with knowledge, confidence and adaptable skills for life beyond school.

The two schools share a commitment to academic excellence, individual learner development and a supportive environment shaped by care and belonging.

"This transition is not about leaving our identity behind.

"It allows us to amplify what works and connect our school to an established educational brand that shares our ambitions," the school's leadership said.

While the name will change, the school will retain its relationships, traditions and community spirit, as well as its core sports and cultural extramural offerings.

The new name signals progress, but the school says its heart will remain unchanged: a place where learners belong, teachers care and every young person is empowered to build a confident future.
