Ballerinas from Sedgefield's Val Roulston School of Dance as well as Masithandane's Learn Through Dance programme performed the 45-minute concert, beautifully choreographed by Val Roulston.
The lead role of Alladin danced by Ayla Durrheim was performed with such conviction that it was difficult to believe that the usually male character was danced by a petite ballerina.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Knysna Municipality, the 20 girls of the Masithandane programme were able to join the 37 Val Rouston dancers for the once-off concert. The pride of the dancers' parents, grandparents and family members was plain to see and hear throughout the performance.
These ballerinas performed as the Arabian girls in a performance of The Magic Lamp Sedgefield on Saturday, August 16.
