SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Award-winning South African comedian Nkosinathi Maki will be the latest act to take to the stage at Studio 42 in Sedgefield, when he performs tomorrow, Wednesday 14 December.
In June this year, Maki beat some stiff competition at the Jive Comedy Awards in Cape Town's Baxter Theatre. One of 65 entrants, the comedian felt, "everyone was so talented, I didn't stand a chance!"
After 11 years of hard work, perseverance and a lot of rejection, this funny man has hit a sweet spot. And he has hit it out of the park by winning the award of Jive Comedian of the year, a title held by many other great names in the industry.
On the first night of the competition he brought the house down and the rest, as they say, is history.
Now, six months later, this stand-up comedian is taking his show on the road and has secured an opportunity for one night only at the little hole in the wall theatre in Sedgefield, Studio 42.
Performing to a mixed bag audience of loyal local theatre patrons on Wednesday 14 December, Maki is sure to have us rolling in the aisles and quite possibly out on to the stoep!
Described as versatile, adaptable and family friendly, this comedian looks set for great things, and not only on South African stages. As comedians seem to be one of this country's greatest exports, maybe this is our last chance to see him on our local boards before the international scene snaps him up too.
