Alexander Ramm was born in Vladivostok in 1988 and has performed in public since the age of nine. He studied at the Moscow State Chopin College of Musical Performance and is currently a student at the Moscow Conservatory.
He took part in the Courchavel Festival Academy in 2010 and in Holland Music Sessions, after which he won the 'new master on tour' position. Included in his concert season during 2011-2012, was his debut in the famous Concertgebouw.
Ramm won first prize at both the Moscow Young Cellists Competition in 2003 and in the International Music Competition in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2005. Also Grand Prize at the Moscow Festival of Romantic Music in 2010, and winner of the third International Beijing Music Competition in 2010.
Tinus Botha received his musical training at the University of Pretoria, Music Academy of the West (Santa Barbara) and in Fort Worth. He has won a number of prizes and awards among them the DJ Roode Overseas Music Scholarship, which enabled him to further his studies abroad. As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with a number of South Africa's foremost artists. Botha is an examiner for Unisa's directorate of music. In 2008 his formal studies concluded with the conferral of DMus (performing arts) degree by the University of Pretoria.
Currently Botha is employed as acting subject specialist at the Directorate of Music, Pretoria.
The concert takes place at 19:30 at the Dutch Reformed Church hall, Fitchat Street, Knysna. Tickets are R100 per adult and R20 per scholar.
