KNYSNA NEWS - Two Grade 10 Oakhill School learners, Sophia Trollip and Hannah Verrier, represented the SA u16 girls water polo team in the FINA Africa qualifiers and CANA Zone IV Youth Championship.
This international tournament took place in Durban from 7 to 11 March, where the team played against Zimbabwe u18A & B and SA u17.
This is the first time ever that Oakhill has had two players represented at national level for water polo – Hannah as goalie and Sophia as a forward and wing.
They are two of the three SWD/Eden representatives selected from this region, with the third player Kirsten Barbour from Glenwood House in George.
These girls were selected from the top 46 girls nationally at the SA Schools tournament in December 2017.
They will continue to the u16 national training squad in Johannesburg from 23 to 25 March, participating with about 40 players from across the country, in the u16 girls category.

They have the opportunity to represent South Africa again and potentially travel to New Zealand for the 15th Pan Pacific Youth Water Polo Festival, the largest water polo event in the Southern Hemisphere held biennially in Auckland in July.
Oakhill and the water polo community is very proud of our local girls and congratulate them on their national achievements.
