KNYSNA NEWS - Oakhill School's U14 girls hockey team participated in the regional Kwagga Hockey Tournament held at Outeniqua School from 21 to 24 March. With their positive team spirit, hard work and Darren Kamfer's superb coaching through each round, the girls won game after game to advance through to the finals on Saturday, where they faced strong competition against Paarl Girls High.
Much to their delight, Oakhill walked away with a 1-0 win and the gold medal!
Around the same time, from 20 to 24 March, the U14 boys hockey team had the opportunity to participate in the U14 Independent Schools Hockey Festival at Bishops Diocesian College in Cape Town. Similar to the hockey festivals that Oakhill host each year, this festival is not about podium positions but rather serves as an opportunity for teams to prepare for the season ahead and to build a positive team spirit.
Competing against the likes of top schools such as Bishops, Michaelhouse, St Andrew's and St Alban's, Oakhill's U14 boys thoroughly enjoyed their games and making friends with players from other schools both on and off the field.
