The league held a briefing in Centurion on Wednesday where it also condemned those raising their hands for the position.
The ANC is preparing for its elective conference later this year.
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) has already endorsed Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC Women's League (ANCWL) is backing Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
The ANCYL has condemned what it calls 'great excitement' building up to the party's elective conference, with some leaders availing themselves and structures pronouncing their preferred candidates.
But this is the very league that announced last year it supports the ANCWL's call for a female president, who was recently named as Dlamini-Zuma.
However, general-secretary Njabulo Nzuza is now condemning this conduct.
“This kind of behaviour is foreign.”
He says, “We will not be forced to become petty and announce names without a framework on what the ANC needs.”
