NATIONAL NEWS - Police have confirmed the death toll from a mass shooting in the Embangweni village in KwaZulu-Natal has now risen to eight, with the victims six children and two women.
It's alleged a group of men forced their way into two homes belonging to the Sibiya family and opened fire on them before setting the houses alight.
The police’s Nqobile Gwala says children are among the victims.
According to the police, at 9pm on Tuesday five Sibiya family members were inside a rondavel when gunshots were heard. Community members checked and saw the house on fire.
Despite rescue attempts, the fire was uncontrollable and all five family members, namely a 60-year-old woman with four children aged between two and sixteen, died at the scene.
