KNYSNA NEWS - An employee of Knysna Municipality, Thembela Shaun Kralo (41), who was arrested on two counts of corruption yesterday, Wednesday 4 June, was released on bail of R3 000 in the Knysna Magistrate's Court earlier today.
The court was packed with people sitting on the floor and others standing by the walls, while outside a group of protesters demanded that he not be granted bail.
Kralo's arrest came after he was implicated in a corruption case. It is alleged that he received money to arrange municipal jobs to two persons.
In the first count, the state said that he was approached by a woman looking for work at the municipality and accepted R7 500 to ensure a job.
In the second count, the state said that he was approached by a man in November 2021 and accepted R30 000 to arrange for a job opportunity for the man and his wife.
After receiving the money, the promised jobs did not materialise.
The case has been postponed for further investigation and will be back in court on 8 July.
