PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Traffic in Marine Drive was interrupted today as up to 1 000 residents from the Bossiesgif informal community marched to the Bitou Municipal Offices in Sewell Street.
The reason for the peaceful march was to present the municipality with a memorandum outlining the demands of Bossiesgif residents.
Bandile Mlindazwe, sub-regional chairperson of the EFF in Knysna and Bitou, said housing demands have been made to the municipality and that the inhabitants were “not moving” until the municipality provides them with permanent land.
He said the decision to hold a peaceful march and hand over a memorandum spelling out Bossiesgif residents’ demands was taken after the municipality and ward councillor had reneged on an undertaking to address the community.
