KNYSNA NEWS - Four talented learners from the Eden and Central Karoo Education District (Ecked) have made their mark on the national stage, proudly representing Circuit 4 at the recent WOW Spelling National Competition.
The four learners earned their places at the national competition by progressing through circuit, district and provincial rounds.
Their achievements are a proud moment for their schools and a reminder of the talent being nurtured in local classrooms.
Charisma Wilderman, a Grade 9 learner at Knysna High School, competed in Afrikaans. She placed third at circuit level, fourth at district level and fourth provincially before securing fourth place nationally.
Amahle Ndonela, a Grade 8 learner at Concordia High School, competed in English. After placing fourth at circuit level, she improved to third at district level and second at provincial level, before finishing fourth nationally.
Apleni Luphele, a Grade 7 learner at Fraaisig Primary School, also competed in English. Apleni placed third at circuit, district and provincial levels, and carried that consistent performance through to the national competition, where he finished fourth.
Oyintando Mntintlwa, a Grade 8 learner at Kwanokuthula High School, competed in isiXhosa. Oyintando placed second at district level, followed by fourth place provincially, and went on to secure a place in the national top 10.
Reaching the national competition is an achievement in itself, requiring learners to prepare carefully and demonstrate a strong command of their chosen language under pressure - and these four have shown that they have what it takes.
