THUMBS UP
• Knysna Sedgefield Hospice thanks Martin Young who donated brand new art supplies for one of our daycare patients who has discovered a talent for and love of painting after becoming one of our patients. Mr Hans is thrilled with his art supplies! Thank you Martin!
• To the Knysna Wimpy in the West End Mall for the lovely breakfast on Monday morning 25 September.
• A huge thumbs-up to Jacques at Bower’s Towing Services for always offering your prompt services to Child Welfare SA-Knysna free of charge. It is much appreciated.
• This is just to say thank you very much to Bosun's Pub & Grill for making four old ladies having their September birthday celebration lunch at your restaurant so very memorable and for your extreme generosity. It was highly appreciated and your restaurant will definitely be recommended to all our friends. Thank you from Cecilia van Wyk and cronies.
• To the taxi drivers and owners of Hornlee for making our sad day so special on Saturday 7 October (the funeral of Francois “Kwesta” Wildeman). The Wildeman family of Concordia appreciated all your effort. Thank you guys!
• To the men and women from Working on Fire for working relentlessly to help build Knysna up again. They create and plant the huge “worms” which help prevent landslides on the steep slopes. They come from towns like Uniondale and Ladismith and in the process offer up precious family time to assist us. Thank you!
• To Rotary Anns for their generous donations to the Knysna in Bloom pot project. And to Fern and Carol Emmanuel for organising. So wonderful to have your support. We have been able to feed plants and add new seedlings. Please look out for your plaque on one the three pots opposite the Knysna Mall entrance (across the street). Bless you!
• To Food Lover's Market, which manages to keep not only their parking lot but the entire town of Knynsa free of their trolleys. Don’t know how they manage it, but a feather in their cap and let the other supermarkets take a lesson from them.
• A huge thumbs up to Peet of Chapè Auto Body Repairs. The good old saying of "going the extra mile" pales in comparison to your awesome thoughtfulness and amazing generosity. God bless you. Peet. And thank you!
• Many thanks to Elna at The Daily for her generosity. She gave a complementary lunch to the Woodmill Walk depot team, as thanks for their effort.
• Thanks to the two gentlemen delivering water to the residents in Charlie Levack, Harker Street on 22 October when we were without water. You are so gentle and really much appreciated. Thanks to the municipality for fixing Wing Street holes.
• To Dr de Villiers at Dental on Gray, thank you for your straight-talking approach and excellent, efficient service, along with that of your staff. Much appreciated!
THUMBS DOWN
• Can the authorities not do something about the morons who ride around on the main road and George Rex late night and early morning on their "baffle-less" buzz bikes at top revs!
• On more than one occasion I have driven down to the local hardware store to purchase an item which was advertised in a current promotion leaflet, only to be told, "Sorry, we don't have any!" Now correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't any competent business ensure that prior to sending out promotion leaflets that they do actually have those items in stock? Save yourself time and petrol if you decide to purchase anything on a promotion leaflet – phone ahead to find out whether the items do exist. Or is this a sales ploy to get you into the store hoping you will buy something else anyway?
• To rental agents, real estate agents etc "ripping" fire victims off with massive rental increases. The law says maximum 10% increase. You guys just issue new contracts, take it or leave it. Red vultures from hell. What you steal you lose 7x70 times.
• When paying the bill at a popular restaurant at Thesen Harbour Town, the waiter informed me the tip must be 10% – he was not happy with anything less.
