According to Captain Malcolm Pojie, spokesperson for the Southern Cape police, preliminary investigation suggest that Nissan Hard body bakkie, pulling a trailer, was travelling from George to Knysna when the rear right tyre allegedly burst. The driver then lost control and the bakkie overturned and rolled for a substantial distance before landing on its wheels.
“The bakkie had seven occupants of which three were seated in front, while four were sitting on the back of the bakkie. All of the occupants (men) sustained serious injuries and six of them were transported to the George Medi-Clinic for medical treatment. The seventh man was taken to the Knysna hospital in a critical condition, but had been stabilised and is due to be transferred to the George Medi-Clinic for further medical attention.
