BUSINESS NEWS - Nearly 30% of all subject results were A-star or A.
Bramble Hill International School in George, on South Africa's Garden Route, is celebrating the achievements of 18 current Grade 11 students who sat their Cambridge IGCSE examinations in May/June 2026.
Their results build on the school's record of international recognition and academic achievement.
Together, they achieved 11 A-star grades, 21 A grades and 31 B grades. Nearly 30% of all subject results were A-star or A, more than 57% were B or higher, and almost 83% were C or higher.
A-star is the highest grade on Cambridge's IGCSE letter grading scale, recognising exceptional achievement in examinations taken by students around the world.
These results reflect the students' commitment and the dedication of teachers who recognise individual learning needs and provide focused support.
An international qualification with lasting value
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education, known as IGCSE, develops subject knowledge alongside enquiry, problem-solving and the ability to apply learning to unfamiliar situations. It provides an internationally recognised record of achievement and a strong foundation for Cambridge International AS Level.
Its value extends beyond this academic pathway. IGCSE can support employment and vocational opportunities in the UK, while some US universities consider applicants with suitable IGCSE results, subject to their admission requirements.
In South Africa, IGCSE results can contribute to applications considered for conditional university offers while students pursue AS Levels. Final admission depends on meeting the required qualification combination, matriculation exemption and programme requirements.
Building on previous success
The latest results follow Bramble Hill's achievements in the 2025 Cambridge Awards, when students earned Top in South Africa awards in IGCSE German as a Foreign Language and AS Level environmental management.
Recognition across these disciplines demonstrates the breadth of achievement within the school.
Bramble Hill students have also progressed into competitive university pathways, including veterinary science at Onderstepoort and chemical engineering at Stellenbosch University, illustrating the opportunities that strong foundations and further study can create.
