KNYSNA NEWS - Nickroy November, the prisoner who escaped from Knysna Correctional Services on Sunday, August 2 has been arrested. November got rid of his prison clothes and broke out through the prison kitchen and then climbed over a fence.
November was arrested in Wittedrif near Plettenberg Bay on Monday, August 11, after a massive manhunt by SAPS and Correctional Services.
These facts were finally released by the head of communications for Western Cape Correctional Services, Siphiwe Xako, on Tuesday afternoon, August 12.
According to Xako, November was wearing "a T-shirt and boxers under his prison clothes, which prisoners are allowed to have in their possession".
He took these off when he went out the kitchen and over the fence.
Xako denied rumours that November managed to get access to clothes from a visitor or that his escape was linked to a visitor and that he escaped during visiting hours.
The Department of Correctional Services will be investigating the incident further, said Xako, but in the meantime three officials have been suspended.
"November was in jail for a parole violation and was still awaiting the outcome of a further case against him for a house robbery," said Xako.
November is back in Knysna Prison.
