Breaking News Update
KNYSNA NEWS - A report back meeting about the devastating fires in Knysna on June 7 is taking place at the Knysna Municipality council chambers today.
According to Knysna fire chief, Clinton Manuel, the cause of the fires was "human activity".
The fires were then spread by other factors including weather patterns.
"The fire was started by humans, but we cannot say it was deliberate, as people light fires for many reasons," said Manuel this afternoon.
Police will now investigate further why the fires were lit.
7 people were killed during the fires and hundreds of homes were lost. Hundreds more were damaged.
