PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Orlando Pirates FC supporters in the Western Cape will launch a new local branch of their supporters club at Kwanokuthula Hall in Plettenberg Bay on Saturday 15 November.
The event will begin with a breakfast at 11:30 at Bossiesgif 11177, followed by a roadshow and lunch.
Chairperson and founder of the Plettenberg Bay branch, Neliswa Peter, said the initiative to establish the local supporters club began on 18 March this year.
"I started the group on Facebook to recruit members from the Plettenberg Bay area. The response was encouraging, and soon we formed a WhatsApp group where membership continued to grow," she said.
The first official meeting was held on 5 April, marking what Peter described as a "fruitful gathering". Following this success, the branch invited Southern Cape Regional Executive members to assist in forming an interim committee.
Peter said the process was not without its challenges.
"Many towns in the province already had active Orlando Pirates supporters clubs, but we remained determined. Through consistency and teamwork, our branch continued to expand." She added that members from other Western Cape branches will travel to Plettenberg Bay this weekend to participate in the launch event.
Community spirit
Peter also urged local residents to join the branch and experience the sense of belonging and community upliftment it offers.
"By becoming a member, you not only represent Orlando Pirates FC locally, but you also become part of a supportive family. As a group, we help one another and regularly engage in community outreach projects to make a difference in people's lives."
