KNYSNA | PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Knysna and Bitou have both seen small increases in their number of active cases this past week, with Bitou now having one more than last week, and Knysna five more.
As at today, 3 March, Knysna has recorded a total of 4 770 cases, of which 4 585 have recovered, 160 have died, and 25 are active cases.
This represents 13 new cases of Covid-19 this week, which is two more than recorded in the previous week (11).
The number of active cases has also increased, climbing by five from the number of active cases on 24 February (20).
This breaks a streak of 11 consecutive weeks in which the number of active cases has consistently decreased in the Knysna sub-district.
The number of deaths has increased by one, and the mortality rate is now on 3,4% (up from 3,3%), while the recovery is down to 96,12% (from 96,24%).
In Bitou, there has been a total of 2 694 recorded cases of Covid-19, of which 2 579 have recovered, 106 have died, and nine are active cases. This indicates 11 new cases of Covid-19 this week, down by two from what was recorded in the week before (13).
The number of active cases has increased by one this week - the second week in a row in which the number of active cases has increased.
The number of deaths has remained the same for the past two weeks, and the mortality rate dropped below 4% again, now standing at 3,9%.
The recovery rate has gone down ever so slightly, down to 95,75% (from 95,73%).
