Die Vriende van die Museum hou op Donderdag 23 Mei om 18:30 `n 'Aand van Kerke'. Die gesellige byeenkoms vind plaas in die Rembrandtsaal van die CP Nel-museum. Die geskiedenis, tradisies en ou gebruiksvoor-werpe van verskillende denominasies in Oudtshoorn sal bespreek en uitgestal word. Verversings sal ook bedien word. Enigeen wat belangstel om die aand by te woon, word genooi om self `n interessante kleinood te bring. Almal is welkom om die aand by te woon. Open day for suppliers

The Mossel Bay Municipality, in conjunction with the ABSA Bank Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) and Transnet will be holding an open day on Friday, 24 May for service suppliers at the Indoor Sports Centre in Samson Street, Extension 23, Mossel Bay. The aim of the Open Day, which will be held from 09:00 to 15:00, is to provide information on procurement opportunities and access to finance to emerging local suppliers through the Mossel Bay Municipality, provincial government, financial institutions and service providers such as Transnet and the EDC.

Monsanto protest

The controversy surrounding genetically modified foods will be in the spotlight in George at a public protest on Saturday 25 May. It forms part of a global protest action against Monsanto, a US based company that supplies genetically modified maize and soy bean seed and has a large presence in South Africa. The local protest action is being organised by Lizelle Genade, a mother who is concerned about the effects of GM foods, especially on children. The protest in George starts at 10:00 on the corner of Courtenay and York Street.
